Shadows quivered on the wall as the candle flickered, then fizzled to nothing. She was frightened. Every fiber in her being screamed to run but her feet couldn't move. She laid there shivering in the dark, cold room. Her breath froze in the air turning to little crystal droplets. The fullmoon shone brightly through the small barred window. It illuminated her torn dress and tear-stained eyes. Only days ago, she was dancing to the sound of a violin in the arms of her love.
His arms wrapped around her, afraid to let go. The room hazing into a mixture of red, green, and white lights as they spun around in merriment. Laughter filled the lucid air at every corner. The smell of a freshly cooked turkey and stuffing hung in the room. Merry laughter and chinking glasses still resounded in her mind as the door slowly opened.
She turned her head away, refusing to look at the man who claimed to love her. Tears leaked from her eyes as he stepped closer and knelt in front of her. She tried dry her tears but was stopped by a tender touch. Unwillingly, she looked up into the emerald eyes of her captor. He placed his cold hand to her cheek and wiped away a stray tear she had missed. Her body stifffened in fright. His skin was like that of a snake's. She pulled her head out of his hand and stared back at the floor. His hand withdrew as a look of sadness covered his features. He got up from his position on the floor and walked out before leaving her in the dark with her once happy thoughts and memories...
