The prickles on her neck told her she was being watched. The beating of her heart could be heard within her chest. Her breathe caught in her throat as she tried to exhale. She could feel her body tense under the looming shadow's stare. The air around her was becoming warmer as she felt the person's body heat radiate directly behind her. It's breathe was sultry and hot against her cool skin. Her survival instincts kicked in as her feet began move on their own accord. She prayed silently as her feet started moving faster. Footsteps sounded behind her, following easily at her slow pace. Her mind reeled as the footsteps caught up to her. She ran faster only to slip on the wet pavement beneath her. Her hands reached out in front of her instinctly to break her fall. As her hand connected to the pavement, she heard a faint crack and searing pain shot up her wrist and arm. Her body fully hit the pavement while she cradled her wrist in her other hand. She slowly rose to a kneeling position. The focus in her eyes cleared when she noticed a pair of brown worn-out boots. Her eyes slowly looked up to see who was following her. Cold, brown eyes stared down at her. She wanted to scream but she couldn't find her voice. Slowly, the man bent down in front of her. He leaned so close that his breath could be felt against her ear.
"What were you doing at my house?" he whispered into her ear. She gasped in horror and tried to run but he pinned her down. He reeled her back around to face him. "I said what were you doing at my house?" His eyes never left her as he waited for an answer. What was she to say? "Dammit answer me! What were you doing at my house?" Fear overwhelmed her entire body. Suddenly, exhaustion came over her. Before she could even defend herself from falling forward, her world went black as night...

Shadows quivered on the wall as the candle flickered, then fizzled to nothing. She was frightened. Every fiber in her being screamed to run but her feet couldn't move. She laid there shivering in the dark, cold room. Her breath froze in the air turning to little crystal droplets. The fullmoon shone brightly through the small barred window. It illuminated her torn dress and tear-stained eyes. Only days ago, she was dancing to the sound of a violin in the arms of her love.
His arms wrapped around her, afraid to let go. The room hazing into a mixture of red, green, and white lights as they spun around in merriment. Laughter filled the lucid air at every corner. The smell of a freshly cooked turkey and stuffing hung in the room. Merry laughter and chinking glasses still resounded in her mind as the door slowly opened.
She turned her head away, refusing to look at the man who claimed to love her. Tears leaked from her eyes as he stepped closer and knelt in front of her. She tried dry her tears but was stopped by a tender touch. Unwillingly, she looked up into the emerald eyes of her captor. He placed his cold hand to her cheek and wiped away a stray tear she had missed. Her body stifffened in fright. His skin was like that of a snake's. She pulled her head out of his hand and stared back at the floor. His hand withdrew as a look of sadness covered his features. He got up from his position on the floor and walked out before leaving her in the dark with her once happy thoughts and memories...
